Telecom regulator TRAI proposes compensation to consumers for call drops - ABP Live

"It appears that a consumer relief measure against call drops would be effective only if it reaches the affected consumers. These measures could extend from not charging the consumers for dropped calls to compensating them by crediting talk-time or amounts in their accounts," the TRAI paper said.

The regulator proposed that any call which gets dropped within five seconds would not be charged, and in case a call gets dropped any time after five seconds, the last pulse of the call should not be included for the purpose of charging.

Modi Ji recently expressed concerns so this might actually happen. But it probably wouldn't.

So was any one actually ever fined for calling DND number?

Not small amounts but like huge amount?

I think RCOM is giving out compensation for dropped calls already on prepaid. Can't find a source apart from a friend. Anyone have any idea about this?

Even Uninor is doing it, I think.

I doubt how would they reason the call drop. What is person dials the number and enters lift or basement area. In these areas, call will surely get dropped. So would operator not charge for that?

There are systems in place to monitor such scenarios. In simplified terms, drop accompanied by a sudden loss in signal is not your regular call drop scenario.

also you will be compensated for only the minute when your call dropped not for whole call.

You?? You who??

I think compensation will go to government - just like penalty for unauthorized marketing call goes to government
