Troubleshooting Ubiquiti LiteBeam AC Gen2 PTP Setup

Hi, i need some help.

i have two addresses home(village) and business(airtel Xstream available) distance is 800m with some trees in the range. i have used ispdesign on ui.com and it seems like i can setup it.

are we allowed to use Fiber to use as PTP? i am thinking to setup it like on business(station).

1. Fiber Optic Cable > TP-Link GPON XZ000-G3 out via ethernet cable to LiteBeam AC Gen2(station)
or
2. Fiber Optic Cable > Airtel default router > out via ethernet cable to LiteBeam AC Gen2(station)

then on village home, use the second Litebeam to connect via either 1 or 2.

I will look if i can get static ip and business internet with rs499 plan. What speed i can expect with ptp on 40mbps plan converting/using via ptp device?

If anyone can help if this could be stable? Please tag some expert.

@Aryanraj - if the distance is 800 meter is there a possibility you can pull a fiber between both locations and have Media Convertor on either sides. With this setup you will get full speeds. Laying a fiber depends on your area only if you can manage to get someone do this and has not much involvement from local
Municipal authorities.

With a wireless set up, if you have a clear Line of Sight, you can also expect something around 30 Mbps (more or less).

can't bring the fiber cable as it would be a headache. also airtel will come within few next few months but want a wireless setup that i can control. i am worried if it is allowed to use fiber for ptp or not.

So you have two locations both served by a fiber optic ISP that you want to add a LAN link over two PtP devices you own?
Why, just do a VPN over the fiber ISPs WAN, much faster with lower latency? You need Line of Sight for wifi links.

What are you trying to achieve?

@Strykar i have Xstream fiber available at business location which i want to use via wireless using litebeam in my village with distance of 800m. line of sight is almost clear as far i understand.

You can get a static IP from Airtel on residential GPON, no need for a business line.
These radios can easily do 5+ Km links, if you have LoS, you should be able to do 40 Mhz or even 80 Mhz width at 8x 256QAM (5/6).

If Airtel is providing GPON, I would get the RB5009 to manage WAN, you can easily add a USB 4G dongle as backup and traffic shape or even PoE if you dont have PoE splitters. Set it up and plot the signal RSSI for a year and share what it looks like in the monsoon.

@Strykar I have GSTIN, i assume it would be better if i upgrade to a higher plan later. do you know how to setup lightbeam? currently not want to invest in RB5009 due to the price. btw thank you for sharing those ideas, my apologies for not knowing few stuffs. i will keep it in to-do for near future. for now just want something keep running, even 20mbps on 40mbps plan via ptp will be awesome if worked.

@Aryanraj This is easily doable. I did some thing similar to stream video from offsite cameras with TP-Link cpe710(These litebeam 5ac are closer to cpe610 but you should easily get >150mbps speed on them) The distance was 927 meters and I get ~550-600mbps speed between the two locations. There are some trees in between but they are not super dense and don't cause any problems. I also planned it out with ispdesign.ui, great website!

Keep the ONT in bridge mode the at the business's location, connect it to ptp antenna and configure the rest at your home. PtP antennas will be running in bridge mode and basically transparent to rest of the infra

thanks @ishanjain28 , i also created the site survey via google earth and even if the location is not LoS, i can make it using a higher iron pipe. i just want to reconfirm if we are allowed to use fiber connection as ptp or not? not want to get any warning from the airtel.

I do not believe any one will actually care about this. If they ask, You can tell them some other reason, make up a use case like mine! It's not illegal to do this but the LCO might ask if they thinks they are potentially losing some money
