I think the issue is in the pppoe client.

I am sorry but your setup though similar, is also vastly different than mine, both your router and ONT are different models. I am out of ideas as to what can be stopping your laptop going pppoe over the alcatel.

The issue shouldn't be the pppoe client, what version of Windows do you have?

Ok, I am pretty sure its not the pppoe client, however you can try a third party pppoe dialer from Download Page - cfosSpeed - cFos IPv6 Link - cFos - hrping - Skins - cFos Software scroll down to cfos broadband connect and download it and give it a try.

I can do direct pppoe from my system no issues, remember my binatone router that airtel gave me is bridged but vlan tagged. I can also hookup directly to the alcatel ONT and used VLAN ID 1910 on my desktop and go online that way too. No point for me as the alcatel has a 100Mb port, will not make any difference in my case.
