I had this question for almost months. All the channels that are telecasted through normal Cable or through DTH are in 4:3 aspect ratio, whoever is having LCD would have noticed that the videos are streched horizonatally to match the 16:9 aspect ratio of the LCD TV. I know that it is not possible for the local cable operator to telecast the channels in 16:9 , is it not possible for atleast the DTH operators to telecast the channels in 16:9 for all the customers who is having LCD TV? so that the videos doesn't look streched? This is really not required to be a HD channel in 720p or 1080p resolution, it can also be a normal 16:9 telecast like the standard DVD movies that comes in 16:9 aspect.Or are the DTH operator like Tata Sky, dish tv, reliance etc... already telecasting 16:9 standard definition channels?RegardsThameem

it all depends on the broadcasters end :inodding:and not a DTH or cable person can change the ratio

thameem,It is dependent on the channel and not DTH. The english channels (star movies, star world, AXN, Zee Cafe, Zee studio, HBO) etc do not even broadcast in the standard letterbox mode which all hindi channels do for the movies. Leave alone real 16:9 broadcast. Internationally also, this 16:9 has happened only for HD channels. It is NOT possible or practical for us to expect SD broadcasts to be in both modes.
