And while other details about the Umeox X5 remain light, word on the interwebs peg this 5.6mm-thick device as one that's running a pretty fresh version of Android -- Jelly Bean, to be precise.
Noone knows what the next "FAB" would be... Until a few years ago the race was to build the smallest mobile possible... Then came the faze of touch screen phones & right now the race is how "BIG" you can make a phone without making it atrocious...Hehe It seems more like a pissing contest right now... I believe the perfect size lies between 4-5 inches but looking at the note 2 & various other 5.3-7 inch mobile phone sales I dont think others see it that way... Maybe next year the FAD will be 10inch Phones ... All I can say is companies have to keep trying something new & outrageous especially in this high competition market... I mean I am on the verge of buying a Zen Ultrafone 701HD which is a 5inch quad core phone with a 720p display for about 11300/-... How frickking unbelievable is that??? Plus Zen has a service centre in my small HomeTown... When you are faced with companies who can price their mobiles this low & still provide service then one has to try & outdo the others in terms of atleast one "it" feature...
PS Zen 701HD seems like a good holding phone for ppl w8ing for the nexus 5... I would guess Nexus 5 even if launched in oct would not reach India before Dec... That is the logic I used with the Zen... Buy it now for 11k, w8 for 6 months for the Nexus 5 & if the nexus 5 is as good a deal as the Nexus 4 is right now then sell the Zen which will still be under warranty for 5-6k & buy a Nexus 5... BTW Sorry for the Off topic post...
The smallest phone was a target, when there wasnt much information to look to it, I mean there must have been apps & stuff. But now, its a mini computer - And more information that can be seen possible (without making it a Tab) is seen as a plus. I see it as a natural progression. TVs took a similar path - Large big box ones (CRT) to small sleek ones and now, people want bigger screens.
Well there is only a limited size u can go upto with a mobile phone sceen... This is where devices like the Google glasses can come into play... Problem is Google glass are probably the most creepiest device out there... Also regulating it is a huge problem which I dont think is possible right now... I can totally see Glass being banned from multiple states, workplaces, sensitive workplaces etc... What if you were texting while driving where it is against the law to do so but the policemen would have no way to catch u... & Lets not even start with how it is a dream come true for Creeps & Pedopiles... If a pedo or a creep is recording ur kid with his mobile atleast u have a chance to see him doing it & confront him... I know Privacy has been dead for a long time but this is taking invasion of privacy to the next lvl... Anyway my point is doing something revolutionary has a whole set of problems attached to it thats why most companies settle for evolutionary steps like making the device slimmer or increasing the screen size or fitting 1080p resolution into a 4.7inch display etc etc... Mind you I dont mind the evolutionary addons but I am more excited by devices like the Google glass at this point of time... Although Google has to really work hard on solving the real life problems a revolutionary device creates or else it might end up being just a nerd's wet dream & nothing more....
PS Wow I cant seem to stay on topic today ...
