I was using airtel until recently, now i have switched to BSNL. BSNL provided the default modem and the internet is working fine if i connect my desktop directly to the modem port.

Now, i wanted to connect my wireless router, so that i can access internet from my desktop, laptop etc.,

I configured the WAN settings in my wifi router (DI-514) to dynamic ip address. I connected my desktop to the lan port of DI514, and my laptop is able to deduct the SSID, and able to connect to this router. When i access some email sites, e.g. gmail, hotmail, from my wireless it is not loading the page at all. But i am able to access any other sites including a google search from my laptop.

In my desktop, i am able to access the gmail, hotmail etc., but i am not able to send a composed mail. I am not sure what is the problem here.

I was having the same setup with my airtel, that time, i was able to access the net from my desktop as well as laptop thru DI-514. The only difference was, earlier it was the modem supplied by airtel, and now the modem is from bsnl.

What configuration i need to look into fix this issue.

I am able to access the modem via http://192.168.1.1
and the DI-514 wifi router via http://192.168.0.1
I have enabled WPA encryption, and gave the exact key in my laptop to connect to this ssid.

I tried changing the WAN setting on DI514 to connect via PPPoE, and gave the password setup in the modem config window. After that i am not able to access the net from anywhere, so i reverted that back.

Terminal service is also not working, i.e. i have a public Ip address with terminal service, which i used access from my airtel connection, now the TS is also not accessible.

Sorry for the too lengthly mail.

Thanks
Lakshmi.

Your Airtel email ID is dud now , if you have disconnected the service.
If you want to send email with abc @airtelmail.com in OE or outlook express
you should connect to Airtel Broadband. Same applies for abcd @bsnl.in only with BSNL BB connection.
abcd@gmail @yahoo mail @hotmail you can send email at their web sites.
Gmail and Hotmail can be programmed to send and receive in OE or outlook.

Para two: Changing MTU try 1492 to start with.
1.Download DrTCP 0.21 - DR TCP - a internet speed connection optimizer. - Softpedia ( read note for VISTA)
2 Dataone WebMail
3. Dataone mail configuration . Dataone Mail Client Configuration
4. Try OpenDNs 208.67.22.220 and 208.67.222.222 in TCP/IP properties.

whitestar 999 and essbebe thanks for your valuable suggestion. Lowering the MTU value in fact worked. Now everything is working fine both from my desktop and the laptop thru the wifi router. ThanksLakshmi.
