Hi everyone,
since last few months, i have noticed that i am unable to send or receive messages/media on WhatsApp when i am connected to WiFi. Works fine when i switch to mobile data. This doesn't happen all the time, only for 5-30 mins a day(on a regular basis). It gets resolved when i restart the ONT. I have tried contacting customer care a few times but they simply refuse to acknowledge the issue and their field technicians are unable to diagnose the problem.
Please note that rest everything works fine, OTT streaming, gaming, work VPN, even Instagram. Its just the problem with WhatsApp.
To be honest, its not a deal breaker for me because TPF is very reliable and doesn't go down, but my parents complain a lot saying that WhatsApp is not working.
I have done speed test, packet loss test and buffer bloat test multiple times both on wifi and LAN but there seems to be no issue.

I have faced similar issue with hathway broadband in bangalore where youtube wouldn't work sometimes when connected to WiFi.
@Chip @vishalrao @phattunit @trustingtrust you guys use TPF. Have you faced any such issue? What can i do to diagnose the problem?

I don't recall having faced issues with TPF and WhatsApp yet.

Have you checked the phone settings for private dns option to adjust on , off or auto?

Also my pixel 7 pro Android 13 has an option for adaptive network which I disable because it seems to interfere or delay UI updates or incoming push notifications with apps like swiggy and mygate.

Only other thing I can think of are changing DNS settings and last resort ask tata engineer to bring replacement router for testing purpose.

Another thing pops in mind is Android app setting for battery usage optimisation which you can try disable.

@vishalrao private dns is set to auto in my parents' android phone and dns configuration to auto in my iPhone.
FYI, the router was recently replaced with a new one(1-1.5 months back) because the older one failed to boot. I had similar problems with the previous router also.
As i said, every other service/app works pretty well without any issue except whatsapp.

Clear app data and cache and retry. Else uninstall and reinstall it?

But the problem is in different phones? Android and iPhone? That's perplexing.

Ohhh @rajat_ are you enable ipv6 too??? Yeah that could be a possible reason. Just drop ipv6 and see if it makes any difference?
