I have used this for updating gas connection kyc from home.

instead of pin which are created locally on device, upi apps can allow bio authentication based on details stored in local device. No need for aadhar in this.

This no otp feature is very useful for cards, when travelling outside India and not able to get otp on email/mobile.
If this is the standard rules set by RBI for cards, it should be same for UPI too.
One card from a long time I think since their launch, allows you to use otp or slide to confirm. So this bio auth will be similar to that slide to confirm thing.
Some users on twitter mentioned this face auth feature already exists.

trust me getting small change to pay is a big problem even in 2025 many city bus conductors may not have enough change i have seen a lot of fights over change in my city now with upi the problem of change has come down here also as lot of tickets are paid online with exact amount. Even in small shops as well. imagine your ticket is 15 or 35 rs the conductor will struggle many times for getting the 5 rs coins if you pay using a 20rs or above currency note . this is the reality as i been using city buses in my city since 3 decades and upi has made it so seamless can just carry my mobile phone with bhim upi app and no cash or bulky coins same in shops and small vendors like pani puri, mirchi bandi vendors etc, dont you think this is game changer do you remember being given toffees as there was no change

yes because they reduced availability of cash and coins in the market. to boost upi. before upi, no one was having issues paying with cash and getting change back. this is just another brilliant invention like aadhaar. they reduced all sorts of verifications and regulations to make things easy to process through aadhaar. and then they say in court that aadhaar is not a valid proof of address or age or citizenship.

off topic printing cash and coins is not cheap anymore given the current costs. multiply these minute costs into thousands of notes and coins and also the cost of storage and distribution from printing, minting to currency chests then to atms and banks
