Home edition comes preinstalled in most of the mini laptops , i am sure about HP. Also with some OEM desktops.

I never saw Windows XP Home Edition in my life, but when I saw people using it? I was awestruck.

Reminds me of the time when I saw a doctor using a very early version of Word (1.0 maybe?) on Windows 3.1 on his office desktop. This was in ~2007 and even Windows 9x was rarely seen. I was speechless for a few moments. I later guessed that that was sufficient for his needs at that time (maybe he just needed to type, save and print documents) and he didn't need anything more.
