Get old vehicles scrapped: Delhi Transport department issues advisory

Delhi's policy mandates phasing out diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years.

Not all provisions of the Centre’s automobile scrapping policy, under which old vehicles clearing an automated fitness test are allowed to ply, will be applicable in Delhi as existing provisions mandating phasing out diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years will remain enforced in the city.

The Delhi Transport Department has issued a public notice, advising owners of such vehicles not to take them out on the city’s roads and to get them scrapped under the end of life vehicles policy notified by the Delhi government in 2018. There are six authorised centres where old vehicles are scrapped in the city.

Most of my relatives got the car transferred to either UP, CH or HR. And are running their 15+ year old diesel vehicles in NCR.
It's good as long as someone does not stop you. Even if they do, it's mostly a matter of either talking to them politely saying passing through NCR bla bla, or either paying a few hundred bucks.
Thinking of doing the same. Worst case, in extremely rare scenario, they cease the car.

If they want scrapping to work then they should be more generous in the payouts/subsidies. Currently whatever they give is peanuts.

@a.c If one don't drive regularly than he can take the risk. I was thinking same but delhi traffic police ceases vehicles like this particularly in winters when there is more pollution. Plus u can transfer ur vehicle in limited states/districts from ncr if ur vehicle has crossed 10 yrs, getting someone in that particular state is not easy for everyone.

Yeah not after 10 years for sure. But honestly worth a shot of you don't drive much. Worst case they cease the car. Anyway the scrap value is like 15-20k. Compare that to the car running a couple of years more is worth it to me xD

For our 15+ year old wagonr. It was ~20K ish in 2018. Maybe for a large vehicle with more material would be higher.

I still can drive my 8 year old i10 for another couple of years right? Knowing this government they might reduce the life of petrol vehicles by 5 years sooner than later.

In my case, RC was issued on Feb 2012, valid up to Feb 2027.

The validity was reduced for the diesel vehicles, right?
