According to a source, the name Sports18 is not final and is just a placeholder for the actual channel. The source added that the broadcasters can register the real name 10 days before the actual launch.

They are broadcasting some of European league Football matches on MTV and CNN-News18.

Viacom18 has acquired rights to properties like FIFA World Cup, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue1, NBA, and Abu Dhabi T10 series. The network will be competing with Star Sports and Sony Sports Network channels. Sports broadcasting will become a three-player market with the entry of Sports18 1 SD and HD.

Channels are not enough they need to bring pre & post-match analysis, week review, and other modern & professional stuff similar to other sports networks (BeIN, BT, Sky, etc.).

And 2 channels are not enough, cause they have the license of 3 important Leagues (Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1) so there will be 3 (or maybe more) simultaneous streams every weekend. They will have to sacrifice particular matches.

I guess they would be adding more channels eventually.
Till now they were broadcasting matches on MTV, Cineplex and CNN-News18
