But as mentioned above... Indian government/TRAI/TDSAT/Some-a*****e made such pacts illegal?
Exactly so if the pacts are illegal are the operators still making them and providing services ?I remember going to Dehradun and I am not able to use 3G on my vodafoneI will wait for chromaniac's updates after his panipat trip. Have a safe drive mateObviously the charging aspect will only be clear once u get the bill

Airtel can't provide 3G to new Airtel Haryana numbers as per the rules. But they can provide all India roaming to the subscriber of those states where it has 3G rights through the roaming arrangements, that's legal. For those states where they don't have spectrum they can't add new subscribers but old 3G Customers continue to use it with a valid 3G recharge amount, which you won't find listed any where. I am using 3G on an Idea Delhi Sim even though Idea don't have 3G in Delhi. On my Airtel Haryana number I can access 3G network of Idea for using 2G with low latecy but not able to use 3G cause this Sim was purchased after the court orders of no 3G. A friend's old Airtel Haryana SIM is working just fine on Idea 3G Haryana.

Aaaah This is new to me.. Thanks for sharing this tip mate. Does this apply to customers who go in via number portability to Airtel.I am planning to move to Airtel from Vodafone because I was not able to use 3G services in UPW. I dont think Vodafone would not have been able to make any pacts with other operators for EXISTING customers in this circle

In simple terms, if your circle A has 3G from Operator X, then you can use the sim card of X from circle A, anywhere in India, provided operator X has suitable roaming arrangements for 3G. This is not illegal. What is illegal is, a subscriber of Op Y not having a 3G license in Circle A, using Operator X's 3G in the same circle or any other circle.Further, Idea, airtel and VF can connect to one other network from the trio for 3G while roaming.

Isn't the last para contradicting with your second para and HC order ?Isn't the last para contradicting with your second para and HC order ?

BSNL has Pan India 3G coverage. Also the case of Intra Circle roaming is still pending in court so AVOID gang is still proving 3G coverage in circles where it has no 3G license by using other Network. Like Vodafone doesn't have 3g license in AP they use IDEA's 3G network.

No. You need to have 3G in your home circle on your operator then only can you get 3G while roaming. If you have airtel 3g in your home circle ie circle from where you buy the sim card, then you can get 3G on roaming wherever either idea or VF has 3G.

Ohhh.. Funny to see the lack of clarity people have on this. I am shifting over to airtel

The Airtel representative who came to take my MNP application, categorically denied this.
