Vodafone 3G Pay as you go Plan

Other new thing I have noticed in Mumbai is that the APN www is not working for any mobile data plan. The apn protalnmms is only working and its too slow.

----------

Network Mode Selection is Handset feature. So, If my 3G Data Pack is active (e.g Rs 100 for 100 MB), then if I use that bundled data in UMTS , it may be consumed fast bcoz speed will be high, but if i change it to GSM Mode, only spped will be reduced but it won't effect the charges.

So, what i feel is, changing Handset Mode will only make ease to control on the usage, but it has nothing to do with pricing and services which are actually active on the MSISDN Number.

they will not cap any thing based on your plan. if you are on 2G network and on 2G plan you amount will be deducted fromm free usage of say 2GB. But if you are hooked to 3G network, you will be getting high speeds and charged at 10p/10KB or 2p/10KB (as per your luck).

@IndianMascot I am talking the other way round. If you have 3G activated and you buy 2G plan.

Come on Dude, How will Vodafone Server came to know that I am using GSM mode and not UMTS Mode ? I still stick to my words that you can access 2G data plan on your 3G Active Number with speed capping.

I will try to explain you with example to more clarification.I have a Reliance Number having 3G Activated. I Use Videocall as well as Mobile TV too. But simultaneously I have activated 2G Data Plan @ Rs 99. So, my data speed is capped to 256 Kbps, but I am able to use other 3G Services at full bandwidth. And I have selected Dual Mode on my Handset, bcoz of Reliance coverage Issue. :pIn this way, I am enjoying 3G Services without any extra charges, but Mobile Internet @ 2G speed. Also let me explain you technically. Operators provision components according to customer opting for various plan. If I opt for PAYG plan, then they have separate component and if I opt 2G Data plan, they have different component. These components are so programmed that they provide us speed or features as per capping set in the component. and thats how system moniters each and every number. There is nothing to do with Handset feature. Even if I activate my 3G Data Plan and use non 3G handset, it would be my bad luck to get slow speed where as when same Sim card will be inserted on 3G enabled handset, it will get throtled speed.

Is that also valid for vodafone?I have 3G activated last month (Rs. 102). it got over now I have Rs. 99 2G plan.I have selected GSM in my phone to avoid any 3G data usage. You mean to say if I activate dual mode or UTMS on my phone, I will be capped at 144kbps and data usage will get deducted from the 2GB ?

Yes. Its Valid for all operators. Lots of my friends use Vodafone this way only.If you switch to Dual or UMTS/3G Mode, your data usage will deduct from 2GB pack only. However capping is different for operator to operator. At Initial state, Reliance have not developed Mechanism to cap the speed. So, I enjoyed 3GB pack @ Rs 99 on 3G speeds ;) but later they rectified the bug and data speed was capped. So, In case of Vodafone, you can try it out. If you would be lucky enough, you will get 3G bandwidth, else if they too have placed the right mechanismt, you will get capped speed :)

I fear that if I do that on Vodafone, i will be charged at 2p/10KB because when i do *225*#3 it says u have 0 mb left and any additional usage will be at 2p/10kb.any other users can confirm? VodafoneIndia, can u confirm?

Don't worry. Have a try at urself. Its risk of merely 10-20 bucks and you will get clarification. Check your balance, then switch mode to UMTS. have surfing for 1 minutes. Then check balance again and you will find it true what i say :)
