For the record, 3G does not get disabled after plan expiry. 3G activation is a one time process. After the plan expires, the default rate would be 10 p / 10 KB or Rs 10000 / 1 GB. On Airtel 3G, default tariff is 15 p / 30 KB which is Rs 15000 per GB. I have not renewed it twice and each time I have successfully received and made video calls.

Also, on Vodafone 3G prepaid, they inform you atleast 2-3 days in advance before the plan expires.

They have to mint money since they have paid 1000s of crores for licenses in each circle they have won.

3G is following the same path like voice tariffs which many many years ago were earlier about more than Rs 15 per minute. Eventually as usage and volumes increase, cost will automatically come down.

because 2G rate is also same. i doubt they will give 3G at same rate. so OP may be right. 3G goes after u finish of allocated MBs

10p per 10 KB is the default rate for both 3G and 2G across all the 3G telcos, except Airtel which charges 15 p / 30 KB.

avidwatcher.. thanks.. still we will have to confirm by someone who actually reached & crossed 30 days of 3G recharge.

You are welcome.

Also, I didn't ask anyone but had a first hand experience after crossing 30 days of plan validity, 3G signals do remain active. I also made and received a few video calls without any 3G plan being active. I had to only take a data plan once (for activation) after they launched it.

One more very important thing:

Do not trust CC guys of Vodafone, Airtel or any other operator. Since they are outsourced, commitment levels are low and their information is not dependable. I prefer to read forums or check with friends rather than trust CC guys of any service provider including Vodofone.

I love Vodafone's network. Never let me down in the past so many years unlike Airtel which has been down for 1 entire day due to fire breakout at their MSC in South Mumbai.

I like your diaglog :) again n again :) :) j/k

15p/30KB wud mean 5000Rs per GB not 15000!

Oops. I just checked their website once again. It is 20p / 30 KB. So it would be more than Rs 5000

I subscribed to their 3G plans but could not get high speed signals at my home. But in my office the reception was good. Only later Vodafone confirmed that 3G services were not introduced in my locality. After repeated e-mails and complaints, they took at least ten or twelve days to bring my neighborhood 3G compatible. 2 more days for me to go, my 3G plan for Rs 99 for 100 MB expires on 15 Jun, but I havent received any sms about it getting expired, unlike 2G for which I used to get sms 4 days before (about auto-renewal).BTW when I subscribed 3G, I got good signal only in office and on road, while no 3G at home. But from last 3-4 days 3G signal is getting better every day with good speed on my mobile :thumbup1: :mobile:
