Vodafone launches Android powered Samsung Galaxy SII to counter iPhone 4 threat from Aircel & Airtel

As per the press release: The Android 2.3 powered Samsung Galaxy S2 will be available for pre-order on Samsung’s website from May 27. The retail outlets are expected to get the phone from June 9. Vodafone, one of the leading mobile services provider has bagged the contract from Samsung to sell the device online from June 3, a week before the retail store launch of the device.Even Samsung website has not been updated yet, since it's a tie-up with Vodafone India. So can't really expect websites to be updated unless pre-order bookings begin. Also print ads & website updation might happen simultaneously across Vodafone & Samsung together.
 
from what i read online they are going to offer 1GB data for free for six months. i hope it is for 3G and not Edge. hehe.
 
i guess vodafone india made the right choice. androids are more popular in india. Galaxy s 2 is expected to do well... especially because it would get price cuts in the coming months. iPhone won't.

and most people who wanted to get the iphone 4 would already have purchased it in the international market. there is demand of course. but overall, supporting android would do good for them. :)

I guess you already know this, but they have simply switched the image of the HDMI adaptor and screen protector

And I hope it's 1 GB for each month instead of 1GB collectively for 6 months :D
 
Exactly... I tried calling Vodafone customer care to enquire about the launch of the SGS II, but all they are saying is "They totally unaware of such news". If the rumors are right then there is only just 5 days to go for the launch, and without the promotion, the sale will not be bright.Now i starting to doubt the news of vodafone launching SGS II on 3rd june. It aint gonna happen, atleast on 3rd June.
 
why would you buy the phone directly from Vodafone? i believe you can avail their offer on data package by purchasing the phone from the retail market itself? i doubt Vodafone would be doing much promotion for the Galaxy s ii. Samsung on the other hand should launch a massive campaign for it. they have aamir khan endorsing their phones. and most of the ads featuring him are low end phones. it's a shame that they are not using him for their high end phones.
 
I dont think vodafone is going to launch SGS II on 3rd June. Hardly 5 days to go and no sign of any promotion.. I think the release may be delayed.

Guys, can somebody explain how this pre-booking works with Lets Buy website, If we pay Rs. 1000/- for prebooking SGS II, when they will deliver the model, and through what mode they will collect the remaining payment.
