I got a wa3002g4 modem as many of the apps websites were not working on iPad via 3002g1. I had same issue on my laptop with 3002g1, but using tcp optimiser I had set the mtu 1460 and problem got solved. But i can't set the mtu on ipad2 hence started using wa3002g4.However with 3002g4 my VPN does not work on my laptop. This is forcing me to change to g1 whenever i have to connect to office. Can anybody help me here?1. Why my VPN does not work on wa3002g4, when it works on 3002g1 ?2. Even though I set my mtu to 1460 on 3002g1, when I run tcp/ip analyzer on speedguide.net through my iPad it shows mtu as 1482. Why is this? The mtu mss settings does not seem to make difference on my 3002g1. Please help.Otherwise suggest me best adsl router, which will not have all these complications.

WA3002-G1

MTU/MSS
Even though I set my mtu to 1460 on 3002g1, when I run tcp/ip analyzer
on speedguide.net through my iPad it shows mtu as 1482.
Why is this? The mtu mss settings does not seem to make difference on my 3002g1
.
Even if MTU/MSS set in Modem/router
in systemsDesktop/Laptop/Ipad it may be default values
and may need Registry editing. Beyond scope of this post.
Usually default MTU is 1492.
No changes now , since all Ok.

VPN:
Since working in WA3002_g1 and not WA3002_g4
the difference could be how you connect to Internet. .
confirm whether you use Dialer mode in G1.
( userid/pw entered in system window for BB connection )
All ports are open.
Usually to connect VPN use a different Dialer. to log in.
AFTER connecting to Internet .

TEST1:
In laptop with g1 connected :
START RUN type cmd
OK
New window.
Type ipconfig /all
Test 2:
Repeat connecting G4.
Post both data here.

Test 3 : with G1
repeat when VPN is connected.
( some tunnel data may be seen )

Confirm who set the VPN in your laptop?
Your Office Tech staff or yourself ? ( application used Contify?)

I am not familiar with VPN and trying comparison method.
Some Port forwarding/or firewall problem may be.
If the VPN server is behind a router,
Port Mapping will need to be done on the router.
Standard port usage is 1723 for PPTP.
You might also need to configure your router
for PPTP Passthrough. Port usage for IPSec is 500, 50-51.
These ports will have to be forwarded to the VPN server's IP
