Want to buy New Modem, Help with configuration

I had purchased a new beetel 110tc1 modem from airtel in october last year after another one they had provided in 2008 got faulty. I think i made a big mistake by relying on them.The new modem is dropping connection every now and then and sometimes it doesn't connect at all. Just power light is on and modem doesn't connect only.On complaint i have been given a service center address which is 25kms from my house and have been told that if they send the Beetel guy, i would be charged 150rs and it will take 1 week to repair.My 5 years of experience with them tells me its better to buy a new one instead, then to argue or shout on them.Pls guide with respect to which modem i should buy. I have a 2mbps plan with dsl connection and its configuration.Also, if you can suggest a alternate service provider? I live in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
