No, you do not need to be on Jio network. Sign out of the app and then log in with your Jio ID instead of clicking on 'skip' which will try to determine the Jio network. I'm already using it on MTNL Fiber and have even tried with Airtel 4G on my iPad. Works just great!

I can login fine, but it throws the error "Oops!! You must be on Jio network or have a device with active Jio SIM..." when I click on any channel to view.
