Set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name, while attempting to break new ground of its own.

The Lost co-creator posted a photo on Instagram of a trophy with the inscription “In Gratitude” atop of a writer’s room table with the caption “Day One,” teasing the start of the project.
The item in the photo is presumably a replica of the retirement trophy given to the character of Nite Owl in the comics, an iteration of which was played by Patrick Wilson in the film.

'Watchmen' TV Series Pilot Greenlit by HBO

HBO has greenlit a pilot for its adaptation of the dark superhero epic from showrunner Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers).

The drama is based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ 1986 limited comic series, which is set in an alternate universe where the presence of superheroes has changed the course of history. In the story, a group of heroes known as the Watchmen encounter a massive, deadly conspiracy while investigating the murder of one of their own.
