To each his own, we are all free to believe what we want. I am not interested in getting into a meaningless argument & challenges about what can be proved here which is hardly the venue.
Nah, it looks like you are unable to back up your earlier statements. Its not a meaningless argument if you know what you're talking about. I don't have a vested interest to argue for the sake of it.

Not the venue ? what would be the venue for you. See, i think venue is immaterial, quality of the knowledge of the ppl you discuss with is what matters. Ppl with knowledge have no qualms sharing it or defending their positions.

A bit of searching on the internet can get you a lot of details about what I have said plus in the media (print & electronic). You are free to believe or disbelieve.
Not for me to do your homework.

About the mackerels I know the wife of the guy who did it when studying in a US university (living in our colony at one time). I don’t see a foreign hand in every time there is an issue of public health & safety.
Nobody mentioned anything about 'foreign hand' just that in the US tuna is supposed to be dangerous but not anywhere else that i can think of.

Reminds me of the official (before the CWG) who recently said that complaints about dirty toilets were because of different standards of hygiene. Till we saw the photos on tv. :(
I remember those photos, those toilets looked a damn side better than most toilets i've seen in homes. All marble & all. Oh the only thing was they needed a good cleaning. Big deal. The media made such a loud noise about it.

Of course there will be vested interests but we should be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Yeah so when you're rdy we'll get to it. For now i'd advise ppl to discount what you've said earlier.

Regarding the mangoes if I am not mistaken, our mangoes were not allowed in the US till recently with the quid pro quo of letting their Harley Davidson bikes into our country inspite of NOT meeting our PUC standards. Even this made a stink in the papers but there were lobbies for wanting the exports to US & there were bike lover who wanted those bikes here
Unless you coroborate it with US press articles talking about the same, ignore what you read in this country about other countries.

I agree, we can go on arguing till the cows come home but that would be a waste of time as like you said we have to take responsibility of our acts of omission & commission and carry on with our lives. :)
Indeed i've been having salads every day for many many years now and have had no problems whatsoever. Note how i've qualified my posts whereas you guys talk from a very general point of view and commingle all sorts of irrelvant things to make your point. Am not impressed.

Rajesh Haldipur's Web Log: Interesting stories about Milk -- whether manufactured or secreted
Rajesh Haldipur's Web Log: Did you know what artificial strawberry flavouring contains?
Whats the Difference??? Tylose Powder…CMC Powder…Trag Powder….Gum Tex… « The Sugar Lane

These are a few links from my friend’s blog but there is a lot out there, even if 10% is bunk the rest 90% is quite scary. Don’t forget about the news reports of the crap they use to make adulterated milk in Mumbai, it can literally corrode your esophagus. Or the Mava last year. Of course we are free to imagine it’s a one of incident.
Every one of these is about manufactured goods. Thats a different ballgame altogether.

We were talking about plants so can you can you stick to that.

Like I said ‘To each his own, we are all free to believe what we want’. also I guess it’s every individual call regarding how he/she wants to lead his life. I suggest you do a little more reading/understanding & less of arguing for the sake of it. You haven’t even understood what has been posted here. That’s why I called it meaningless. I don’t believe in ‘have mouth will speak’ syndrome.
Regarding homework I have done mine. You can discount EVERYTHING I have said I could not care less about it. It’s no skin of my nose.
Your comment about toilets says a lot, I don’t have to comment anymore. Other readers will understand. :D
‘Unless you coroborate it with US press articles talking about the same, ignore what you read in this country about other countries.’
Why so?????

Why are you so US centric?

You first sentence says it all!!!! Peace or is it P…:blink2: in this case. No point in arguing, each one goes ahead & believes in what he/she wants. We don’t come here to prove our knowledge or intelligence to anyone.Take it or leave it

This is what is known as meaningless. I called you out. Simple statement was made, poster was asked to back it up, he now tries to save face. I mean if its a fact why is it so hard to explain.

I'm interested in learning, not winning arguments, in fact its better to lose arguments as thats where the real learning happens and is the only gain in participating in an online forum.

Your comment about toilets says a lot, I don’t have to comment anymore. Other readers will understand. :D
Well, it shows i can think for myself instead of being led, an admirable attribute wouldn't you say...

See, its not about being us centric. If the indian media says something about a country, any country, you try to corroborate with what the media of that country says as well. This shows you have some basis.

Have lost count of the number of times i've been shot down on intl fora because i posted something i heard on indian media. nine times out of ten, posters will post stuff from the west which gives a very different picture. The quality of reporting there is a damn side better than what we have here. You learn things from their articles, over here there are only more questions and nobody can answer because the idiot journalist did not have the brains to ask & find out themself.

A persecuted complex
A about to go to US IT :fart: . Surprised there is no ‘Howdy’ anywhere.
Some never realize that a bit of politeness could have got the better results but alas some still think they are on a college campus. :(
Baby wanting to spoon fed :baby:on the pretext of learning when everything is right in front. I guess if you don’t look you cannot see. So what can one do?
Babies are innocent (but dividing line between idiocy & innocence is v thin) & cant separate the wheat from the chaff (so they get 'shot down')
Going thru all the 'wise repartees' shows the level of 'innocence' :smartass:

Maybe you should check my join date and posting history before talking out your side.

Your lame deflections do not impress me at all. It is NOT MY JOB to lookup claims you make.

Your links were irrelevant and proved nothing about the main point of contention.

A point i'm pretty certain neither of you two can prove :)

And would therefore advise others to ignore.

Are you sure that I referring to you or are you trying to prove post #56 is correct?

---------- Post added at 04:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------

What good are gloves with paani puri ?

The whole point is the water they use isn't always safe. And thats been the case for a long time now.

Before this post all the members had expressed laughter/disgust/anger/ but no one mentioned anything about water as EVERYONE knows that quality of water is ALWAYS AN ISSUE with street vendors AND more IMPORTANTLY the issue here is a vendor who was caught red-handed pissing into a vessel which he uses for cooking. But you had to come along and show us your intelligence by showing us your knowledge of this incident. Haven’t you heard of the term.’Repeating the obvious is odious’?
After that post many members mentioned what happened in Mumbai (most probably making allowance that since you are from Bangalore you might have missed this in the news) but again

Oh, i know about that, but this is just the talk of the moment.

THe point remains that you can never be sure of the water used. Whether its safe or not. Lots of food poisoning occurs due to low water quality. Can't buy pannipuri from some guy on the road, only from an indoor establishment.
You boast that you know & again repeat yourself (hell bent on proving that you are right) with a touch of snobbery about indoor establishments. IS THIS HOW YOU INCREASE YOUR POST COUNT?

To me looks like good propaganda to rid the street of food sellers isn't it.

They've been selling food on the street for centuries but only now this video is supposed to change ppl's minds ? no not only that but enough to go about beating others as well.

There is such a thing as karma is there not.

Yeah, but ppl still want to go out to eat. They do go to their favorite joints.

A good rule of thumb is turnover.
Still in the same rut you now call this all propaganda & that street vendors have existed for centuries even karma ?? (Were the rest of us born today morning? Or living under a rock al this time that we have to be enlightened by this gem).

Impossible. Consider that manure is used as fertiliser. Plants take what they need to grow. They do not take anymore. If they don't find what they need they die. And if that happens then nothing can be sold or any gain made. If plants are growing & thriving next to 'toxic' water then they are getting what they need. Plants are not like animals and don't get a stomach ache. They are very fussy with what they need.

Therefore there is nothing to worry about in the plant 'food chain'. The chemicals used are mostly pestcide to keep food from spoiling or being eaten by bugs. You are expected to wash your vegetables & fruits. This is another point where you can't be sure what you get in a commercial establishment. Whether they clean it enough or use contaminated water to begin with. As always the rule is cooked is safe, raw is not.

So look forward to more exposes that discourage against this sort of behaviour. You should become more confident rather than scared. I don't eat salads for health i just like the taste, and i eat a lot of it, at home only ofc :)

Getting back to that cellphone video. You think every panipuri wala does this ? On the face of it this is just one guy. ONE GUY!

How many panipuri walas in mumbai or even India for that matter. This is basically bunk, its like saying just because one guy did it they are all guilty.
here you want to again that you are right again inspite of others mentioning you could be right but that is not enough for you & rattle on with your personal taste/habits (who asked you) Next you try to prove your intelligence by saying its only ONE guy lol. & others should not be held responsible this other members would have agreed with, as NO ONE had said all are to blame. Since you seem ignorant about what happened in Mumbai as it was mentioned clearly in some post that it was made a political issue by some who went on a rampage.

So give me some links since its such a known fact :)

Their livelihood depends on the trust of the customer. You think they won't police themselves over this. I say they have no choice.

And yes, i AM making the case that you cannot sustain a population of 15 million in mumbai by growing food by the side of railway tracks. The numbers are not going to be enough isn't it. So where else does the food come from then. It comes from big wholesale markets that are fed by smaller regional ones. If we had better infrastructure you would be getting it from all over the country. But since that is not the case it comes mostly from your own state and those surrounding it.

That's what this is, just a scare. If there are a thousand vendors and just one guy does it your odds are 0.1%, if 10 do it then its 1%. If you eat out a 100 times in different parts of the city, then your odds of catching the guy are just one out of a hundred. If you do this every three days, then maybe one time in the year you might get the guy who did it. If you eat out less chances are nil.

What reports ? news reports. link them hopefully they also indicate WHO did the research to justify these claims.

Until the reports are credible & there is a clear link showing cause & effect, over a long period of time that would be the intelligent thing to do.

Links to credible reports ?

Links

I would have thought it was different for each & every single item. Quality control would be one. Or the fact that we cannot compete on price.

How many of our alfonso magoes get rejected, eh ? Ratnagiri's ouput mostly goes abroad unless you live there or personally know some of the growers.
after saying what others are saying ‘is impossible’ now you start by DEMANDING LINKS & throwing open challenges as if this is a kushti akkada. Surprising for a guy who claims to have a lot of experience on forums maybe this is why you get ‘shot down’. This again clearly shows your immaturity, childishness & indecent desire to prove to ALL that you are ALWAYS right.
Exhibits your naivety that vendors police themselves. Lol

How intelligent, thanks for enlightening us all ignoramuses about how 15 million can be fed.

Here again you show you ignorance & bias toward foreign reports

REALLY now do you realize the import of what you have said whose homes have you visited where the toilets were dirtier than what came in the media. Doesn’t that tell us a lot about you as a person?
Are you working for their embassy or hoping to migrate soon? I hope you do
Who is going to certify them as credible. YOU?
And why ONLY 'US' press articles?
Again you want to bore us with your habits, NO ONE asked you about it so why this compelling reason to tell us about yourself? And who cares if you are impressed or not.

This is what is known as meaningless. I called you out. Simple statement was made, poster was asked to back it up, he now tries to save face. I mean if its a fact why is it so hard to explain.

Again you prove that you want to be spoon fed also you don’t have manners to ask politely for something. Please remember that other are not here to impress/educate you only inform & you are free to like it or lump it.

Here again you show you ignorance & bias toward foreign reports
Again a braggart. Leading only in foolishness & arrogance.

Looks like ITS ALL ABOUT YOU. Its ‘blr_p’ centric ONLY
It’s not surprising that you get shot down anyone who is rude & shoots his mouth off is bound to be ‘shot down’ as you say as moderated forums have strict rules of decorum & DON’T appreciate college campus behaviour.

What a pathetic bleat. I know MANY members who have joined before you AND have more posts than you BUT NEVER resort to the tactics used by you to show off. Even more important RESPECT is always earned NOT DEMANDED.
Also a true disciple of knowledge would not shy away from doing his 'own homework' & search for knowledge.
