What is BIG about the BIG TV?

I am making this assumption as they are good at breaking price barriers, hope that they do the same for the DTH industry too:thumbsup:

Yes they indeed will break the price barrier. their website says the basic package will be for less than Rs. 100 where as the lowest package available .. i think Tata Sky.. is of Rs 200.

So with reliance i can say that customers will gain. So keep up the hopes guys .. :thumbsup:

Wow ! thats exciting news. I mean all that good quality for such an attractive price is wonderful. Maybe reliance is playin with that concept of the hindi IDIOM 'Sabar ka phal meetha hotha hain'. And this DTH better be meetha (sweet) as the wait has been long enough.

I dont think any BIG is happened other than the money ! Introductory offer 4990 for MAX package. Few channels more... But... you need to pay 2490RS at anycost ...1490 + 1000Rs towards installation....100RS is the base package for 44 channels (FTA?)Dishtv is 60RS for base package ...Good for full time tv viewers (got few channels they wanted..) Costs are more compared to DishTV or Sun DTH.If you are not interested in those channels which are not available in DishTV, DishTV is still more economical..By the way, In bangalore, my area was having just 2-3 dishtv dealers before in 2km.Now i can see Big Boards of DishTV minimum of 10-15 shops !! I think BigTV will offer more in coming days to beat DishTV All the best to BigTV buyers

May be dish tv have more choices but still big tv is not launched yet and we never come to know what its offering the list and prices are mentioned by reliance employees who are using big tv, these rates are not announced by official reliance big tv sources so its still a question about rates and services which are going to announce by official sources..

I have currently Tata Sky and Sun DTH. Sun uses MPEG 4 decoder, but picture quality not anything better to notice. My interest in Reliance is mainly on their HD promise. Even the current STB has component video out which is missing in both Tata and Sun. Sun provides S-video, and digital audio through optical. But no improvement while connecting to my Onkyo 605.
In short MPEG 4 does not mean anything to the end user if they uses the same bandwidth to pack one more channel instead of improving the video quality of the channel.

No ways,we know its going to create revolution in DTH services. MPEG4 and HD, damm good..even i have heard about its sound quality its gr8 .I am waiting for its release BTW does anyone here have a clue about pricing?
