In short MPEG 4 does not mean anything to the end user if they uses the same bandwidth to pack one more channel instead of improving the video quality of the channel.
Absolutely! For them it would always make more sense (economically) to pack more channels rather than using it to improve quality. Because I think majority of subscribers would be concerned mainly about channels and price factors, quality may be secondary! What I am hoping for is that we get from Reliance a better trade-off between quality and number of channels. If they don't give any preference to quality, then it should be cheaper at least:redface:

yeah may be cheaper things are affordable but many people are putting more preference to quality rather then quantity..if these services are not offering better quality of sound and picture then whats the difference between DTH and cable? cable's picture quality is poor thats the reason people are turning towards DTH and slowly dth are gonna be affordable also, remember in early years how costly dth was! we couldent even afford 90 channel in those days but now its much cheaper than cable and big tv is much better in terms of quality

I disagree with Yatnika's statement. In this case, the idiom "Sabar Ka Fal Meetha Hota Hai" is not applicable. Since Tata Sky's current tariffs are going to be rockets soon, as Jio just did with their telecom tariffs.
