What room heater to buy?

coming from gurgaon, i can totally relate to it. they say gurgaon people are currently paying the highest price for electricity. i am using a heater right now. and that is causing me heartaches. can anyone tell me about the oil based heaters? are they really effective? i am currently using a blower based thingy which is not very good. how expensive are the oil based heaters? how much power do they consumer? :D^ starting a new thread for this question.

Couple of hours I guess. They are really slow at heating up the room but once the room is warm, it stays warm longer than through a regular heater.

it has adjustable thermostat to manage the temperature and a knob to manage power. you can switch between 1000W, 1500W and 2500W(max)

Even the open electric coil heaters is supposed to be bad because they burn up the oxygen in the air (though I think that is not true it could be substantially reducing the humidity level but I dont know if that is bad ). And if your building wiring and circuit breakers is not too good the high wattage heaters can be a high risk. In my house the main power cable running from the pole to the meter/main switch board got burnt because my tenants started using lots of room coolers and heaters. Fortunately it was an multicore cable with extra cores left unconnected and it could be restored without much cost. Otherwise the road had to be trenched to lay a new cable...getting permission from the local civic authorities and other costs would have cost me about Rs 25,000

For those who cant afford thousands of rupees there is another option: the heating pad...connect through a long extension wire and keep it under your chair cushion :D
