What room heater to buy?

coming from gurgaon, i can totally relate to it. they say gurgaon people are currently paying the highest price for electricity. i am using a heater right now. and that is causing me heartaches. can anyone tell me about the oil based heaters? are they really effective? i am currently using a blower based thingy which is not very good. how expensive are the oil based heaters? how much power do they consumer? ^ starting a new thread for this question.

what kind of heaters do they use in foreign countries.i keep on hearing radiator etc words in movies.how do they keep their whole house warm even when outside temp is in negative, when we are struggling to keep even 1 room warm? what kinda tech do they use?

I have an oil based heater in my office. I don't remember the brand name, its some Chinese brand...bought in 2006 and don't remember the cost.

My office is not central AC and split AC is cooling only thing and office is located on top floor of building, so it gets really cold in evenings.

On oil based heater power consumed is 1.2 KW/hr and my cabin is 130 sq ft. With the oil based heater at full power, my cabin is never properly heated. Last year I bought a Maharaja Whiteline heat convector with fan. It is more effective in heating but dries up the air. I guess there is no such thing as a room heater without cons.

Next time I'll buy an AC with heat pump only.

I am using a cheap blower style heater as well. It's so cold that it barely manages to make the room comfortable enough to let me sit on a computer to type. Still cannot get myself to buy a Dyson.

dont use the blower, they burn oxygen. not good for breathing and health.

And I have owned an oil based heater in the past. It was pretty hard to even realize that if it was working or not. I guess it's maximum potential is to increase the temperature by around 3-4 degrees and even that takes a couple of hours.

The area where I work is pretty large and I usually need instant nirvana So I use the regular blower heater. Run it for 30 minutes. Turn it off. Gives me an hour of warmth. It's suffocating indeed. But then I am used to smoking my lungs out for many many years (no longer thankfully) so not much concerned about it.
