My mother uses Canola Oil for cooking. i think its supposed to be low in saturated fat.

According to most nutritionists you should keep changing your cooking oil every month , i hate the smell of coconut oil but its probably the healthiest

Coconut oil in our home. I avoid fried stuff's in any case due to cholesterol problems. As long as you avoid fried food any oil is good enough I guess.

Really? Why is that?

Saturated fatty acids are actually the best for health, which probably makes Coconut Oil the healthiest. Don't believe BS marketing.

You think ancient man was extracting oil from plants using complicated chemistry? Lol.

Saturated Fats are Good for You

^^ Check that out if you're actually serious.

We have started getting olive oil for cooking but read somewhere that since we cook food at high temps, them olive pomace oil is recommended. Any idea about this ?

All above brands/ types mentioned are good but overall idea should be to limit the intake of oil to say a tablespoon a day (upper limit) and recent trends advocate trying a mix of oils and not just sticking to one type. The above limit may vary depending on age and activity of the person
