Nah .. not comparing .. just saying that PS2 wont play the new games .. which someone having a console would definitely want to play ..
this isn't PC gaming where nobody follows games and just runs behind whatever new is there
if you were a hardcore then you would have your specific game franshises
like Final Fantasy 7 and METAL GEAR SOLID are still noted as the best games in their genres even though they were released back in PS1 days
if you want to play METAL GEAR SOLID 4 on PS3 then you have to know the story of the previous ones,you could play the new one anyways but console games concentrate on alot of things like Story,Gameplay,graphics,etc
if you really wanted to go casual then go with the Wii

you talking about hardcore gamer,you can be a hardcore gamer and own 360.hardcore gamer would not even look at the features but what game franchises does the platform have.

Now no offense to anyone around here but most hard core gamers are using PS3 though - i assure you of that pal. If you look at the actual sales of Xbox or mostly the kind of people who buy xbox, usually gifted them to kids etc more than PS3. Especially in North American regions and so is Wii. Sometime ago i had a friend who had done some analysis while working for a MNC which up sells products to callers and found that people order such gaming consoles etc are usually more interested in Xbox than PS3 for kids - could be because of price factor etc. Now this explanation if someone thinks Xbox is better because of the sales figure. Again i'm not saying Hardcore gamers will not buy Xbox but more on fact that novice/kids usually prefer Xbox instead of PS3 - hence Xbox sales are better. And like some gamers prefer a lower configuration instead of the best available because of the Price.
Moreover even on paper PS3 anytime has better specs than xbox itself and hence the scope is wider in future, now that we now that the next generation of gaming console is not arriving anytime soon.

360 RROD is still at 54%,repost of December 2009.MS itself agreed that it existed.PS3 is at 8% and Wii at 5%.
Sony is just 4.5m PS3's behind 360 atm with outselling it evey week after the PS3 120gb and 250gb launch.I track sales.And by current projection it will outsell it by 1m consoles by March 2011.Also PS consoles sell for 10 years and it is only PS3's 4th year and 360's 5th year.360 isn't beating PS3 by their own exclusives,

Final Fantasy 13 sold more on PS3
Final fantasy 13 bombed compared to franchises previous sales.
Final Fantasy 13 VERSUS and Final Fantasy 14 are exclusive.And by FF13's sales they won't go back to 360.
Metal Gear Solid Rising isn't being made by Kojima,all other Metal Gears are not well recieved by MGS fans

MS are just prepping up NATAL,nothing has been showed till nowexcept one ball games which is ditto copied from PS2's eyetoy.
Natal is innovation while ps3 motion controller is like wii-HD
if u talk abt rrod then MS gives u 3 year warranty on legit consoles...but only 1 year warranty on ps3 by sony
if u talk abt sales then halo alone(gears not needed lol) is far ahead than so called ps3 exclusives kz2,mgs4,uc2

i m a noob coz i own xbox n u r hardcore coz u own ps3? this is wat ur point? wow
for me noobs r those who play a game finishes the story n move on to other game..n don bother online gaming..which is wat happens in PSN.. thats y multiplatform games don sell more on ps3 n hardcore r the ones who r competitive n plays online which is wat happening in LIVE.. this is my definition of noobs n hardcore..wat urs? don tell me ps3 is expensive so its for hardcore:hysterical:

console Software sales are way above most PC games
and most of the big franchises don't come on PC,gran turismo,FF,MGS,HALO,etc

NATAL is a great piece of hardware but not an innovation,Innovation is something that completely new and never before experienced in any form.when the Israeli company developing it was making it for some other companies for other services when MS bought them and it is also just 3D version of EYETOY.it is a good product but calling it innovation take it too far
MS gives you a 3 year warranty only because of RROD,they didn't give it at first when 360 launched.and why would SONY need to give 3 year warranty when their products hardly fail and most companies give only 1 year warranty.and if you want more,you can get an extended SONY warranty for RS.1000 only.
if you are talking about sales then you should not compare HALO,the biggest XBOX franchise with UC2(a new franchise this gen),KZ2(not every game is a 5m+ seller).MGS4(always been a niche franchise which has always had sales of 5-6m for the main versions).
if you really like to compare HALO with everything then why not compare GRAN TURISMO with FORZA or PGR series or HALO itself.it beats all easily.All GT main games have sold over 10m.GT5 prologue demo version itself outsold the FORZA and PGR main games.i would normally compare them as i know they are not comparable but you would mind comparing them now as you would mind comparing HALO to other PS games

i agree you don't need a movie player if you are a hardcore and just buying the console for games but i was as it is gonna buy PS3 for its game so BLU-RAY was a bonus and SONY

just being online doesn't mean being a hardcore.just look at the indian situation with counter strike,it is the most played game in india and people play for hours online but they don't know a hing about being hardcore of hardcore games.almost all do it cause its the 'COOL' thing to do or because everybody else is doing it.
same with US/CANADA where people are mad about FPS and violent games,most don't follow games and most don't play the single player mission.they like mindless shooting(not that FPS are bad but just shooting and playing one game for hours and not knowing anything about other games isn't hardcore) and straight jump to multiplayer.a majority also follow because of the hype and it being the next 'COOL' thing.
like MW2,it wasn't gonna sell anywhere near it did.it was expected to sell 12m but not 20m it did,it was mostly because of the $160m marketing campaign ACTIVISION had for it.it was the 'COOL' thing to have so people who didn't even play an FPS before bought it mostly in US/CANADA.
also people don't mind paying $50 LIVE FEE in US/CANADA to be 'COOL' and showing off.
PSN has alot of hardcores like 360,like my friends we have our gaming forum,leaderboards,etc.360 is better at two things that is match making and cross game voice chat(PS3 has it but not in many old games).
And 360 also has many casuals like PSN,for example just play HALO REACH on the day of its release.you will find alot of noobs which didn't play HALO before but just bought to be part of the HERD and have it like everybody else.
just because you play online doesn't mean you are competitive and hardcore as like me i like games like MGS,FF,GOW,LBP which don't need you to play games online.I play online too but that doesn't make me a hardcore,what does is staying devoted and following and knowing the info on my fav games
and multiplat games sell well on PS3,only in US they do a little bad
FIFA,RE,SH,NFS,etc all sold better on PS3.

just being online doesn't mean being a hardcore.just look at the indian situation with counter strike,it is the most played game in india and people play for hours online but they don't know a hing about being hardcore of hardcore games.almost all do it cause its the 'COOL' thing to do or because everybody else is doing it.
same with US/CANADA where people are mad about FPS and violent games,most don't follow games and most don't play the single player mission.they like mindless shooting(not that FPS are bad but just shooting and playing one game for hours and not knowing anything about other games isn't hardcore) and straight jump to multiplayer.a majority also follow because of the hype and it being the next 'COOL' thing.
like MW2,it wasn't gonna sell anywhere near it did.it was expected to sell 12m but not 20m it did,it was mostly because of the $160m marketing campaign ACTIVISION had for it.it was the 'COOL' thing to have so people who didn't even play an FPS before bought it mostly in US/CANADA.
also people don't mind paying $50 LIVE FEE in US/CANADA to be 'COOL' and showing off.
PSN has alot of hardcores like 360,like my friends we have our gaming forum,leaderboards,etc.360 is better at two things that is match making and cross game voice chat(PS3 has it but not in many old games).
And 360 also has many casuals like PSN,for example just play HALO REACH on the day of its release.you will find alot of noobs which didn't play HALO before but just bought to be part of the HERD and have it like everybody else.
just because you play online doesn't mean you are competitive and hardcore as like me i like games like MGS,FF,GOW,LBP which don't need you to play games online.I play online too but that doesn't make me a hardcore,what does is staying devoted and following and knowing the info on my fav games

console Software sales are way above most PC games
and most of the big franchises don't come on PC,gran turismo,FF,MGS,HALO,etc

NATAL is a great piece of hardware but not an innovation,Innovation is something that completely new and never before experienced in any form.when the Israeli company developing it was making it for some other companies for other services when MS bought them and it is also just 3D version of EYETOY.it is a good product but calling it innovation take it too far
MS gives you a 3 year warranty only because of RROD,they didn't give it at first when 360 launched.and why would Sony need to give 3 year warranty when their products hardly fail and most companies give only 1 year warranty.and if you want more,you can get an extended SONY warranty for RS.1000 only.
if you are talking about sales then you should not compare HALO,the biggest XBOX franchise with UC2(a new franchise this gen),KZ2(not every game is a 5m+ seller).MGS4(always been a niche franchise which has always had sales of 5-6m for the main versions).
if you really like to compare HALO with everything then why not compare GRAN TURISMO with FORZA or PGR series or HALO itself.it beats all easily.All GT main games have sold over 10m.GT5 prologue demo version itself outsold the FORZA and PGR main games.i would normally compare them as i know they are not comparable but you would mind comparing them now as you would mind comparing HALO to other PS games

i agree you don't need a movie player if you are a hardcore and just buying the console for games but i was as it is gonna buy PS3 for its game so BLU-RAY was a bonus and SONY
