Standard Chartered? I'm No expert, but my cc and online work from them is good.

i have my account at Standard chartered..the minimum qtrly balance is 25000/-...its decent primarily bcoz the min balance is so much that few people have accounts..the ATM's and branches remain empty on most days..so one gets sort of VIP treatment.. no standing in long queue's..i once happened to visit ICICI bank for submitting an application..it was a total nightmare..bursting at the seams..Govt banks customer care is very poor..the attitude of babus is too condescending for me..n yes avoid HSBC they are paranoid about security

On a similar note, is it possible to buy a prepaid/ debit card across the counter or order one online and then transfer paypal cash onto it?

I had got a call some weeks back for applying a HDFC savings account with 0 balance, Why dont you call up the CC and enquire abt it. I just hate ICICI, There ATM's are always crowded.

I decided to go with HDFC. I visited the nearest SBI branch - the lady in charge quizzed me for 20 minutes. At the end of the "interview", she flatly said that I should come the next day. Four employees who oversaw the new account creation procedures were on leave. Hence she could not process my application. I was getting calls from all corners of India from ICICI officials. Kinda annoying when you are trying to get some shut eye in the afternoon. Axis bank had a responsive customer care - I had emailed them some queries and they replied within 10 minutes! I decided to visit the nearest HDFC. The guys were warm and very cordial. The overall professionalism impressed me. Decided to give it a shot. Thanks for the input, guys. :)

I am using SBI since 4 year but never faced any problem..good ATM network and Online support facilitys...
