Which Messenger will I continue using in the near future.

I guess most of us are facing the same reaction. In fact I now don't get involved in any discussions in different groups I have to interact with, I just say what I am doing & everyone should due their own 'due diligence'. Many friends ask me for link I used when I deleted my FB account. Even for that they want spoon feeding.

When I tried to move my cousins WhatsApp group to Telegram, one of my cousins she put a very stiff resistance “kya mera data leke karega Zuckerberg uncle? I have nothing to hide, my life is open book bla bla bla” My mom has just started using WhatsApp. It would be impossible to make her switch and re-learn Telegram.

Also, dont think it is a good idea to promote Telegram since it doesnt default to E2EE.

I recommend trying Shelter first and if that doesn't work switch over to Island.

Frankly regarding Signal I feel its too good to be true

Our media parrots out what Western media say. Some people suggested signal so our guys go ga ga. But nobody has realized that these august personages are Americans suggesting an American product. We know who owns telegram. There no way they would recommend a 'Russian ' product. He was Russian who was chased out because he wud not give a bck door to his app.

Telegram for now may get benefit of doubt. At the end of the day we are making a choice in darkness & hoping for the best.

Isnt it some kind of fashion for ordinary citizens to generally rant abt privacy? I can understand privacy in matters such as finance, banking etc. How many are tech savvy to understand privacy issues?

It works fine to message strangers who are not in your contact list. I used once to message a guy with whom I was sharing ride by his car.
Also just 2 days back used Truecaller voice to make call to another stranger who has sent me money by mistake to my mobile number through UPI. That voice call was also fine.
