I was using Home 250, and recently migrated to Home 500. However, they charged an "Advanced Rental" of Rs. 1000/- for two months (October and November 2007).I didn't know this nor their site mentions something like this anywhere.Has anyone experience this?Is BSNL trying to fool me, by vasooling advanced rentals, first? Please help.

Welcome to Broadbandforum.in in INDIA.You have to contact the Accounts officer of BSNL "on earth" Probably your Security Deposit for BFone is not sufficient OR BSNL charged Rs 500 installation charges and rent for one month. Never heard of BSNL charging advance rentals for two months. Are you sure it is for Dataone connection ?

Though being a relatively new user (I got my connection only last week), I can tell you that BSNL doesn't charge for plan changes as mentioned in their website: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.
but they do charge two months renatal as advance security deposit which is refundable:
At the time of issue of Demand Note, following charges are to be collected:

a) Installation charges (As applicable)
b) Advance Rental as per billing Cycle (One month/Two months)
c) Security Deposit of the Modem (If Applicable)
d) Advance monthly rental for modem
e) Refundable Security Deposit for 2 months rental as per the plan (As
applicable)

Having said that, there's also no rental for either the earlier 250 plan which u had nor for the 500 plan which you'e opted now but I don't know why they've still charged you the advance rental.

You better contact your area manager soon.

This is mentioned at the end of webpage of which the link is mentioned earlier.

Though these are mentioned, in the form while applying, there's an option for annual discounted payment, i u had opted for that too, there might be some charges.

But I'm glad that they've charged me Rs.0/- as deposit. Despite opting for annual discounted payment, nobody has talked to me anything about the payment of the annual amount yet, but still, it might very well be that they're gonna charge it in my next month's bill :hysterical:
