not really. i would upgrade the internals of my computer the day it becomes painful to use. but i am stuck with my phone because the resale value is bad and it is hard to find a new model that suits your needs.
most people here do not change their phone for 2-3 years at least. computers do not get outdated that fast. my 3-4 year old desktop run windows 8 wonderfully. but a 3-4 year old phone would not run current mobile platforms wonderfully.
i have known people who cannot keep a phone longer than a year atmost.. but like you say does your old pc work better than your quad core?? I am sure even the quad core would glitch some times for sure...
