Hello there, Was using the 256 unlimited plan earlier and internet was heaven.. got speeds upto 200 KBps in LW and utorrent..Thought since speed is so good why not switch to the 900 unlimited plan and am in a traffic jam..The download speed now is never more than 30 KBps.. did the speed checks and it varies like anything.. has touched 1.92 mbps "once" in a blue moon and is barely touches minimum 256.Are there any settings that i need to change or will i have to face the BSNL babus or should i switch back to the 256 plan??One more thing am using a Huawei MT841 Router.. though its GUI has Wi-Fi settings still it does support any laptop of mine.. Will sure appreciate any help on this one also

the speed for UL900 plan is fixed to 256 kbps only. there is no upgrade of speed for this plan

Yaa Home900 Unlimited plan has dedicated 256kbps speed that means ur download speed can;t exceed above 30kbps anytime in day or night, while Home500 and above limited data plans have speed between 256kbps-2mbps so if u download more all prefer to go for Home500 instead of Home900 coz in home500 u can download around 4gb in 6hrs which u can;t in whole day in Home900 :P

So what you are saying is that i can't increase the speed anymore.. but then howcome i got 1.92 mbps (checked it in BSNL speedcheck only) but the point is it fluctuates like anything.. from 1.92 mbps to 128 kbps.. as for the wireless adapter is supports both b/g standards.. i believe its the routers that the problem.. tried Huawei website but didn't help.. couldn't even get a firmware upgrade there

the speed test in bsnl website is not accurate all the time..the main thing is that in 900 unlimited plan u will get a max speed upto 256kbps all the time...which may also fall to 128kbps or below depending upon traffic..if u were in 250 or 500 plan u could get a min of 256kbps and max of 2mbps...that means in this plans u will never get a speed below 256kbps...so when u changed from 250 plan to 900 plan your speed reduced drastically..if u want more speed and download more opt for 500 night unlimited...as kalps said in 500Nu plan u can download more in 6 hrs than what u can download in 900 plan even if u use 24hrs...got the diff..

Don't check speed in BSNL site. Try other web sites , there are dozens of them. Leave the modem alone. Still if you want to upgrade firmware etc , see the Wiki page in this forum. If interested I will send PM with link of screen shot showing more than 4 Mbps for my Dataone Home 250 connection !
