Why international sms rates never came down in India ?

well..I don't think this has to do with less number of customer sending international sms.
what i feel is that when you sms a number other than your country, you will have to pay certain fees to the Operator's there thus increasing the International sms cost...:confused:


How come there is no fees on international call but only on international sms, Aircell is charging only Rs 1.50 for USA and Canada calls (with bonus card) and I am assuming that there can be no fees in this meager amount
 
aircel might be subsidizing international sms considering there is not much demand for it. people who have to send international sms would rather get a gprs connection and use email.

Not sms, their international calls to usa and canada are cheaper
 
5 years ago, i was in pune and had BPL (then hutch n now vodafone) -> they had free sms anywhere in the world for very long time...
 
No, miss calls are not charged even intl.

Caution! in some countries even we r charged for a misscall...common instances with arab zones. So check your balance b4 giving mscal to any abroad person.
 
Its a good thing actually. People abroad are charged for receiving sms. Imagine them receiving hundreds of forwards every month.
 
Tata Indicom has International SMS at Rs 2.5 in their Let's Rock plan . . but only between 9 PM to 9 AM :madness:
 
i think its better to send a full email form some cyber cafe instead of sending one sms which normall is rs 5 per operator and in cyber cafe u can sit for 20 min atleast for rs 10 or if ur phone supports net acess via gprs then best do email from that
 
Doesn't that make sense since 9 PM to 9 AM is the time Americans [and that's where msot of these messages are going to land up anyway] are awake?
