I am kinda noob so pls don't mind it,I want to know why is telphone line neccessary to establish a broadband connection,I think there are seperate optical fiblres for broadband and even telefon is not used while using broadbandIs it for authentication or sumthin :ashamed:

DSL operates by splitting the available frequency of a telephone line into two. One part is used for voice communication (telephone) and the rest is used for data communication (internet). Various methods are implemented for efficient usage of telephone line.

the fibre optic cable cant be layed to reach each home the equipment is way to expensive. thats why DSL utilizes our cheaper telephones cables (copper cables) to transmit data signals along with telephone voice signals. The two signals are split by a device called splitter. The data signal is then transmitted to the DSL modem and the voice signal to a telephone.

A telephone connection is not necessary for a broadband connection even if you are getting one via copper cables (laid for use by landline phones). Most private companies will provide a plain DSL/ADSL connection without too much fuss. It is BSNL which (I think) insists on a land line phone being present to offer one.If you go for fibreoptics-or-cable-based broadband, the question is irrelevant.

First of all telephone is not required for a brodband. what we do need is a medium for a broadband internet to connect,,, Various broadband medium used are.. 1 One pair copper cheapest of all [ dsl/adsl/dialup used by Airtel,BSNL,Reliance ] can also be used for telehones2 Four/two pair copper [CAT5 -Lan Sify, Hathway etc ]3 Fiber optic [very expensive mainly used for backbones , ALL ISPs infact all of worlds internet is backboned on fiberoptic cables even long distance calls]4 Wimax may become cheapest once its popular [Wireless , Reliance, tata, sify etc , its like wify with range as high as 3 kms ] we need no telephones phone for broadband... the mediums above, As can see one pair copper wire is easiest to setup and maintain and its setup is similar to that of telephone lines .So companies can provide telephone on the same line Although no telephone line is required why don't use the same network for fifferent service and charge customers lol ... its just a companies money making strategy to provide telephone along with broadband. hope u got ur answer
