Trai offers 3 options to allocate 6GHz spectrum band

As part of the hybrid route, Trai said that the lower part of the spectrum band (5925/5945-6425 MHz) can be assigned for unlicensed use and the upper part (6425-7125 MHz) for licensed use.

This is big!!! Looks like good chance we can finally get partial 6Ghz.

@vishalrao My PC with Intel AX210 is connecting to 6Ghz network. But iPad Pro fails to see TP-Link AXE5400's 6Ghz band. It connected after resetting it. But once I logged into my iCloud account, it disconnected from 6hz band and connected to 5Ghz band.

I hope we dont deviate too much (frequency spectrum) from what the bigger markets like US is using. Wifi so far has been universal so one could buy a device anywhere in the world. If we start writing our own rules not compatible with other countries that will be a big downside.

@rajil.s I think many countries are going with a similar hybrid approach by allotting a partial spectrum of 6Ghz to wifi. Every government is greedy as to not miss their revenue. Tbh, when telcos are having hard time with 3.5Ghz n78 band penetration, I don’t know what witchcraft they intend to cast when deploying 5G on 6Ghz. Unless they have successfully defied laws of physics.

My Pixel 7 pro and Moto Edge 30 Fusion both support 6E and the India websites for them also mention this but with asterisks (terms and conditions) which suggest they are disabled for Indian market and neither of those phones connect to my xe75 6ghz ...

But as I posted earlier my Asus Zenbook S13 OLED laptop with Ryzen 6800U and MediaTek 7921 based custom AMD RZ616 wifi chip DOES connect to the 6E signal in Win11 and latest Linux releases.

@anmolbharat004 not necessarily. Even if this greedy govt releases partial 6Ghz spectrum, I would still consider it a win.

@Phanindra Musinada 6Ghz band is disabled in software if it detects your region as India. Google and Apple do this geo blocking actively.
