wierd problem with my connection

this sounds really kwkard problem. but still this is a problem to which i haven't found a solution.since the passed 3 days i have been having this problem.i have D-Link 502t modem.the problem is after powering on the modem the adsl lights don't start blinking. i mean the modem doesn't start to establish connection till i pick up my phone's receiver.i turn on the modem and waited for 5 minutes for it to connect and it doesn't. And when i pick up the receiver of my landline it starts to connect..to confirm this problem is persistent i have made observations at different times of the day. there is nothing wrong with the modem. i used another one (same model dlink) and the problem persists..there is no static/disturbance in telephone line. it is perfectand idea ??

Its a line problem. Lodge a complaint & when the linesman comes show him what you observed, if he cant fix it then meet the DE or SDE for your area,

ya even i have similar problems at my place. though when my connection is on its 2mbps though i'm on 512 plan. it like this for past 1 month or so, frequent disconnections.
