It’s not new to have two movies being made on the same concept but it is indeed unusual to have two movies being made against the same backdrop but in different genres. We are all aware that Abhishek Chaubey’s 'Udta Punjab' has, well, Punjab as its backdrop and also that the film deals with the youth in that State and the problems they are facing.
Now here’s news that Luv Ranjan is also all set to make a film against the same backdrop. And the title of his film is akin to 'Udta Punjab' – Ranjan’s film is called 'Wild Wild Punjab'. Well, his film revolves around the same premise – what the youth of Punjab are going through although it has been narrated in a lighter vein, which is Ranjan’s forte.
The coincidence doesn’t end here. If Udta Punjab has a Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh playing one of the lead roles, Wild Wild Punjab also has Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal playing one of the lead roles. Isn’t that coincidence pe coincidence?
