will plug & play usb sound cards work in all os?

I installed ubuntu in my desktop and found that the sound card is not supported.
I found plug & play sound cards by searching in google.

find the model number of your existing sound card.

search for a driver for that sound card.

this question is likely to be better answered on the official ubuntu support forum.

basically google the sound card model and see if others have a similar model running with ubuntu.
