yeap. it sucks. the starter edition is a joke. even the basic edition is a joke.

thankfully my cousin called me when he was buying a laptop. i told him specifically to not touch any model with windows 7 home basic.

Agree with you 100%

i also told him not to touch any more with a 5400RPM drive. but i doubt there are many 7200RPM options available in the market. :P

for laptops 5400 drives are fine... for desktop they are slow.7200 drives for laptops are also available . but laptops become heavy...

heavy? i dont think drive speed increases the weight :| it only hurts the battery life from what i know. i got mine with a 7200 RPM i think its much more responsive compared to other laptops with similar specifications. hard drive speeds are very important with the amount of data we crunch nowadays. :)

i think 7200 drives for laptop are 3.5 inches... and yes its little bukly and heavy for a battery load..

Laptops can take 3.5" drives? Must be very few around I always thought 2.5" drives were made specifically for laptops due to space constraints.

i had seen laptops 7200rpm drives a year back which were 3.5 inches..now you get it in 2.5 also...

well i guess bulky laptops were earlier designed to handle desktop drives to provide more capacity. these days the focus has been mostly on sleeker desktops and hard drive companies probably are capable of providing the storage solutions. personally it would suck to have a desktop drive in the laptop. because of the heat and because of the noise.
