heh. google is in a unique position. anyone watching youtube ad-free for a few years now would hate to go to regular youtube or look for workarounds.

can't find any official announcement anywhere. my account section still show 189. no mailer from youtube yet. i wonder if they would grandfather pricing for existing customers. unlikely though. sundar ballmer does not do that.

Compared to other countries, it is still quite cheap here. However, who tf adviced them to go from 189 to 299?

Current subscribers will begin to see the new prices with their next billing cycle.

This is the statement they put out when they raised prices in the US in November 2023. And they also said that prices will be raised across Asia and other countries at different periods of time.

I guess the mail regarding the increased pricing could arrive anytime.
