Zee Channels Issue on Tata Sky

afaik mpeg4 recievers can't catch mpeg2 signals... Even if they can then also the STB will not allow to decode those cos stb's will be set to decode only mpeg4 signals...

dth ops can't carry all channels. For eg Tata Sky has i think 9 transponders so each transponder can carry abt 12-15 channels and max 20 with mpeg4 compression so max 180 channels. but i dont think 180 wud be enough with so many channels coming up.
Thats nonsense. Tatasky has 12 transponders and provide about 100 channels while dishtv with 7 provide 160 channels !!! And with so many new channels being launched do you seriously think tatasky will avoid them coz they do not have space ? Yes , they can prefer to be selective when it comes to the news genre coz we have shitloads of them. Right now 71 channels are awaiting uplinking permission from the government , 46 of which are news channels which is a sad thing. But being selective on sports ,entertainment and Lifestyle channels is stupid.

LOL. it makes sense to me. u r missing a point which i clearly said and its there in that link i posted too. dish tv can give 160 channel because 50-60 are DD channels which happen to be on same satellite. and are not on same 7 transponders. else as mentioned in that link 1 transponder can handle max 12-15 channels with mpeg2 compression.now does that make sense?

yep because other than dd fta channels rest are packed in 7 transponders. lucky for them DD is moving but just on nearby satellite else they wud be in serious problem. or may be they wud purchase those free transponders after DD moves.

Dishtv will now be using all 12 transponders as DD DTH is getting 7 transponder from Insat 4C... So they have vacated the 5 transponders and dish tv will be using those.... But still dish tv was showing around 100 channels with 7 transponders as they were compressing it too much... and tht is resulting in bad picture quality...

Tata Sky is too selective about the channels they show. That's why they miss out on so many popular channels. They want to pick channels on behalf of their subscribers, which is absurd.

Well I am new but I am Dish users and I will tell you that, Dish TV have 7 transponders which carry 108 channels + 2 Audio + 15 Network services. That make 125 channels on 7 TP which make 18 channels per TP. So quality is not good but they impoved their quality of lots of channels imcluding Star's channels. They are just making all channel more clear before June-1.After June-1 Dish TV get 5 new transponders which empty after DD move from June-1 and offically on 15th. They will add good channels in june and also arrange these channels to make load lower. New TP will allowed 75 channels capacity with great quality.Dish TV person( My friend's bother) was tell me about 17 channels already in pipline and will be started from June. They also have a Engish movie channels and Kids channel too. I hope they will come out with some great content in June.

DisHTV seems to be promising as of now
