using 9 PIN DSUB cable may lead to issue, use the AV cable which has 3 wires, 1 for video 2 for Audio L,R. and i am sure it will work just fine.

@muraliwhy u need to use composite input despite of using VGA...and one more thing if I use vga then from where can I get audio input??

I have a PAL to NTSC converter as well. Hence I use composite as well. Since Dish TV SD STB also has VGA-out , I connect it to my TV through VGA-in as well. There is a separate audio-out in STB , that can be connected to TV and it is the audio source for VGA. I always watch TV with VGA-in as it is clear . My PAL to NTSC converter ( CMD 1500 ) is not giving a good quality picture.

ok that what I have understood so far..If I want to connect my Sony bravia 42' (NTSC supported) than I have to use VGA port and audio input. As TV is NTSC supported only so other solutions will not work.(converters may work but according to u they are of bad quality,so I am not considering them)AS now markets are flooded with HD box, so I can connect the HDMI cable from my box to television. That would work for HD channels. To summarize:I have to connect both cables(VGA and HDMI) to my TV simuntaneously.for non HD channels VGA will work and for HD channels HDMi will work.Am i correct?

HD STBs will upscale all the channels to HD, so you should be able to view all channels through HDMI. BUT , with NTSC TVs , HDMI doesn't work either. I thought that only the refresh rate matters for HDMI ( 50Hz vs 60Hz ). Dish TV HD STB has HDMI setting to output at 60Hz or 50Hz. I do know whether HDMI 60Hz will work or not with NTSC TVs, but I have been hearing that even 60Hz setting will not work. I would still like to try that.Since there is no solution yet ( without a PAL HDMI to NTSC HDMI converter) to watch HD on NTSC TVs , please buy only Multisystem TV from USA.

see my friend...any stb..like dish, big tv,sun, tata any stb will work with ntsc tv...and also it works fine with normal av cable...i have a Philips lcd which i got it from usa...which dont have pal system...i connected with dish tv,.it works fine...later i connected with big tv...sun direct...now i am using videocon...it doesnt matter whether u r having pal or ntsc.....it matters only when u use u r normal cable...but u r using stb and av cable..its just like playing a dvd in ur tv...thats it...no need of change of any settings...just connect it to the av..its like plug n play

Hi Tirumala,
I also plan to take my Philips 42' TV to India. I've 42TA648BX model, do you have similar model? I know it can only play NTSC but with VGA, it can play STB signals. Please confirm your TV model. Thanks in advance.
