Airtel Broadband is now offering 40mbps plans in Chennai

I think they are selling their VDSL router upfront to broadband users without upgrading their networks.

Just now received call from CC about providing the VDSL router (200 INR x 5 months) but i can enjoy 40 mbps only after 2 months(after upgradation)

Just accepted the offer..let's wait and watch.;)
 
It looks the ones on power data plans cannot upgrade to 40Mbps even if your line is feasible. There are no 40Mbps power data plans available right now.

Edit: It seems to be available. Shouldn't have trusted the 121 rep :D

I got the new VDSL2 modem, and enjoying currently at 16MBPS. 40MBPS would be soon available in my area. And I was also told about Rs.200 x 5 months scheme. Got a call on Monday. Modem installation done on Tuesday. Line activated within 2 hours.
 
I'm from Ashok Nagar. And I'm getting only 16MBPS. 40mbps cc guy told I'll get in a month! Since the node near my house would be upgraded soon!
 
I did get another call in the past week.. The same deal... We are upgrading everyone to new technology, new speed... speed 40 mbps real soon, right now 16 mbps. Just 1000 for modem.

Considering its been 1.5 months since they initially promised 40 mbps, before admitting its16 mbps - I politely refused. I am now determined to resist this purposefully - and change only when offer alongside a better plan (like someone was saying 175 GB for 1099 in T,Nagar, for example)
