Airtel Broadband is now offering 40mbps plans in Chennai

To think I was on 4mbps until January 2016...For the first 10 years, it was a very slow progress.

2005- 256kbps
2007- 512kbps
2008- 1mbps
2009- 2mbps
2012- 4mbps
Jan 2016- 16mbps
Oct 2016- 40mbps

I had access to a 2mbps line back in 2000 at my first job I am stuck on 4mbps for the last couple of years.

My post from February. It has taken only 8 months. Not bad.

A service engineer told me that they're testing VDSL at the nearest exchange and might be implemented in the next 2 or 3 months. He showed me a speedtest screenshot of 65 mbps.

@balajik Very nice, could you please tell more about your current plan and monthly allowance ? Mine is supposed to happen soon but the cc exec said that there were no 40Mbps powerdata plans. Haven't heard back from them since.

@manojrk As per my understanding, the plans will remain the same; will cost the same. We just have to pay Rs.1000 (Rs.200 in 5 installments) as installation charges. I'm currently on Rs.1999/200GB plan. That will continue.

@balajik Great to know that you have got 40 Mbps, i am still waiting for them to expand and my area people are enjoying maximum of 4 Mbps speed.

They replied through mail that only 16 mbps is the maximum speed @ my area..:closedtongue:

I have received Extra 100 GB data free for 3 Months.My plan is Rs.1299.00 100 GB 40MB/s speed.

They have confirmed from next month onwards speed will be 100MB/s for all existing 40MB/s customers.
