Reliance Jio vs. Airtel (and the rest)

december 31 is too far away. government would make more announcement in the time being for more stuff. and activists would file more pils with courts and courts would need to provide exemption to people without aadhaar just like they had to do for pan cards etc. till the CB sits and decide on the overall validity of aadhaar, courts have no option but to continue providing exemptions though logically speaking they should be disallowing all mandatory rulings of the government.

of course like we saw with the recent announcement regarding income tax filing... government continues to make a mockery of the newer rulings from the supreme court so there's that. as of now... i have no plans to apply for aadhaar. i filed my IT return last night so as of now, i have nothing to worry about till december 31.
Yeah no worries till 31st dec. After that your bank account become invalid.

what a shit article by avoid mafias.they are saying now 4g scam.wow rs 250 for 1 gb data is one of the best plan according to them.in past bsnl was puppet of avoid thats why their plans and network are invisible.but now bsnl is also launching competitive plans still for 3g network(not 4g).people like you should use avoid and avail rs 250/gb pack and enjoy.

What a lame and stupid article

Remember the statement of Vodafone/Airtel CEO that India is not ready for 4G, AVOID was least interested to bid for 4G., where as Infotel won PAN India bidding withing all legal framework. Doesn't matter if it was front company for Jio/Reliance or anyone this is how business are run(take the competitors by surprise). Only thing that matters is that fair bidding happened.
It was lack of Business sense of AVOID that they could not see it coming(Ambani's had just scrapped Non Compete agreement, which should have given enough clue that Reliance may jump into Telecom)

Regarding getting BWA converted to UAS....Wait a sec again this rule was for everyone even Airtel/BSNL converted BWA to UAS,
Price of this conversion/migration can definitely be questioned, same way one can also question earlier policy of giving spectrum based on subscribers(all incumbent got large chunk of spectrum for free including 900Mhz, the most efficient)

For ages AVOID was ruling the market because of free 900Mhz where as most of the new players got spectrum in 1800Mhz(which requires like twice the infra). RCOM/TATA/Telenor most players struggled for the same reason.
Jio is finally giving some tough fight to AVOID....fully supporting Jio for the same as well

This write up is true to its core ?
Jio was definitely favoured by allowing voice services on broadband spectrum (2300 Mhz )later. It was auctioned as Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum not for voice. Since voice was not allowed at that time (2010-2011) on 2300Mhz spectrum hardly any one bid for this spectrum. Even Qualcomm had bid for the spectrum in CAT A circles like Delhi and Mumbai and Kerala etc to protect its LTE technology as it was in competition with Intel's Wimax for standard technology of the market later they sold this spectrum to Bharti Airtel. Airtel Vodafone idea etc might have made a bad decision that India is not ready for 4G but they can argue that without voice on this spectrum they hardly made business sense. Primary revenue at that time was voice. Who on the earth will use data services only without calls. Can you port to Jio if they stop there voice services. Every one complained about Jio when its voice call were not working. so This Voice issue made the 2300Mhz spectrum less lucrative and only few companies were in bidding prices cost less on the other hand there was cut throat bidding for 2100 Mhz /3G spectrum

Why on the earth Reliance had to buy Infotel .... they could have participated as Jio in spectrum auction and AVOID would have ensured that Jio doesn't gets spectrum cheap even Aircel was doing good that time, Instead they bought the company which won Pan India licence within hours of declaration of result.

The other point I would like to make on AVOID's 3G pricing

Apart from reason stated above why bidding in 2100 Mhz was fierce, the other Reason for so fierce bidding 0n 2100 Mhz spectrum was due to Government of India(GOI) noobish policy of releasing small amount of 2100Mhz spectrum (2010 and later ) in parts rather then whole 2100Mhz spectrum (right now GOI has 2100 Mhz spectrum which was unsold in spectrum auction held in 2015-2016) so that everybody can have pan India spectrum for 3G services. Small amount of 3G spectrum ensured bidding was over the roof.

The goal of government is not to maximize revenue only, Govt. should also focus on that services remain affordable. but such intense bidding in 2010 maximized revenue for Govt but services became un-affordable for many.

To prove my point search for why Britain and czech republic stopped there LTE auctions.

The insane bidding for 3G spectrum ensured that prices per GB were high even in early stage as there were hardly any adopters initially but companies have to pay for spectrum loans etc right away so AVOID had to make up from whatever customers they had. But low bidding cost of 2300 Mhz spectrum ensured cheap data prices. which again favoured JIO

So this is a clear cut case of crony capitalism.

P.S I don't support AVOID ;) but what ever Jio does is not always right :)
