I think there will be a new monopoly sector created by reliance and their approach I think is very Chinese as to beat the prices till the time market crashes. They have done this in petroleum sector , polyester yarn sector and now telecom sector by crashing pricing of both mobile services and today fiber broadband. I think airtel should exist to have competitive market. I had an observation/intuition for past couple of that jio will crash fiber broadband prices and deal with upload symmetrical speed.

dude the prices are fine. nothing that airtel/tata/bsnl can’t do. it’s a good wake up call to others.
what bsnl needs to do is lay fiber cables underground where they had landline cables, and ditch LCO model to which they pay massive commissions. Enter the FTTH business with their own distribution. It will take money but give good returns. Airtel can also reduce the prices a little, just giving the 299 addon for free will make them competitive. It remains to be seen how the QoS will be on Jio, but they will have the advantage of being the leader for a long time.

on the top.well every company wants to have monopoly. airtel was a big player in telecom sector, didn’t do anything revolutionary. Jio took the risk of laying fiber cables all over the country even in small towns, takes huge capital and it’s a commercial risk. They saw that streaming will replace TVs and internet will be the only cable that goes in homes other than electricity. Also, Jio is the first Tier 1 private ISP to have expanded in non-metro cities in a big way. There was an opportunity and Jio saw it and acted first. Then lockdown made high speed broadband popular.
