Jio fiber 2.4Ghz wifi is being detected as a mobile hotspot since 27 August. I know this cause apps are not auto-updating and YouTube is restricted to 480p. 5Ghz is fine. Checked the firmware date and it says 31 July. Can't possibly understand what Jio has screwed up in the backend through TR_069 this time. As a temporary solution I'm forcing my Android devices to treat it as unmetered and seems to be working fine. Another issue is that it is broadcasting hidden SSID's also. Others having this issue and a permanent solution please chime in.

Go to 192.168.29.1 and change wifi settings directly from there. Reset the router if that doesn’t help
Had to reset the router thrice to get the wifi behaving as it should. Don't know why it took three trials but speeds have absolutely tanked since resetting (15-20mbps)

Looks like it's not an isolated issue (but not a widespread one either) seeing other threads with some variation of this

Even my router has wifi issue. They came to replace, couldn't do it due to some backend issue. I didn't let them go without fixing the issue, finally kept the new router with me hoping this will make them visit again tomorrow lol.

Having problem in YouTube app. Only 480p. But fr browser everything is fine. Now my problem is solved after selecting - treat as unmetered .

Yup Jio's latest firmware is having some issues due to which 2.4GHz WiFi is being detected as a hotspot triggering the 480p in YouTube. Temporary fixes include using 5GHz band(doesn't have this issue) or maually setting the WiFi network as unmetered in your phone's WiFi settings.
