In my area, LCO was giving connections for the past few years. I took BSNL connection through LCO.

But now BSNL started giving connections directly.

What happens to LCO provided connections now? Does it merge with BSNL direct connections or we have to contact LCO for maintenance? Who is responsible for my connection now? LCO or BSNL?

Thanks

The connections provided by BSNL work in parallel with LCO. Maintenance as a whole is done by LCO even for the BSNL provided connections in normal cases.
If the LCO disappears which happened in your case then BSNL should do maintenance work. This will continue until a new LCO comes in for operations.

Here at my place we had the same thing, lco was given the permission to provide connections by bsnl, i took it, but the service provided was so poor by the lco that bsnl employees bought new olt and laid new wires all together. Like me most of the people here shifted from lco to bsnl provided connection. The maintenance and support is all done by bsnl employees for their line. One day i came to know that bsnl office had terminated lco's contract for not providing after sale service and all those pending lco connections will be shut down and new connections will be provided directly by bsnl only.

Thanks @anubhav11 for the info.

But in my place, the cables weren't changed. I am having the same cables LCO laid.

In your case, the whole cabling was redone by BSNL?

Until they both were serving connections side by side, they were laying their own cables. The day they terminated the lco, they started using lco's cable so that while shifting connections customers don't have to suffer. Mostly the drop cables are used of lco, the main fiber are still bsnl's.

So in that case, I guess that the main cables were shifted to BSNL cables. And last mile cables to home, they kept in tact without changing. So customer may not notice the provider change.

I guess this is the case. isn't it @anubhav11

Thanks

Yes , bsnl people took the consent from willing customers, filled their forms, activated new connections, hardware also got changed due to some issues with lco provided ont and new bsnl olt. Lco had Syrotech setup, whereas bsnl deployed utstarcom olt. They changed the ont too but those ont will be provided on monthly rent and not given free of cost

Nothing has happened in my case. No wire change or modem change or any notifications. That's why I suspect whether my connection is still with LCO or not.

In my area, BSNL started giving connections directly. But what happens with existing LCO connections is what I have to get clarification..

So far your information has been helpful. Maybe in your area, it was done like that.

Thanks
