Seems like Airtel started 5G testing all over India, I can see the 5G coverage in many places nearby in the Ookla's app.

Fake info on Ookla map it's due to phones with Oppo's ColorOS base showing Fake 5G. If u check VIL has most 5G spots on Ookla map

That's what I'm saying it's just 5G icon on 4G network in OppoPlus devices. Due to this lots of fake 5G spots on Ookla

Jio has around 15+ 5G towers in Chennai but I don't see any 5G spots on Ookla. Whereas Airtel and VIL have a lots of spots I have personally visited those place and found no 5G signal or 5G equipments on towers

Speedtest App's 5G map is dubious at best. It would be months out of date. To launch 5G, any operator needs to have 60-70% 5G enabled towers in a city otherwise twitter backlash would be tremendous. No operator can risk negative publicity at launch and most 5G users will be cancel "woke" generation who happens to be tech savy. Operators WILL HAVE TO get 5G launch at 4 metros right.

At the risk of bad press. This 10 tower 5G deployment strategy would have worked 6-7 years ago when people were not so tech savvy but now every mom and her dog knows 5G is coming and assume it to be better than 4G.
