I am staying in a gated community and there is only one service provider in this place who take back end support from airtel to provide internet in our apartments.

They say that there is FTTH connection to be provided if I opt for internet service and asking for a modem charge of 2000.Is this really worth paying or I can get it somewhere outside in market?

Please help me with getting a compatible modem for this FTTH stuff. This technical terms are like rocket science to me as I am so much into this.

Thanks,

Since it's a FTTH modem, it's a good idea to get it from your service provider. Do you need to buy a separate router to have wireless capabilities?

So, you mean they are charging you an additional Rs.2000 for a wifi router? It's always a good idea to buy your own router. They come in all budgets. It all depends on what features you want and your internet speed.

Yes I am just worried about compatibility. They say only DSL routers are compatible and ADSL routers are not.I am confused if I need to buy anything in Flipkart or Amazon what should i buy der??

When they say 'DSL router', they are referring to a DSL modem+router. This will not work for you.

You need a Router.
Routers come in all budgets. It depends on what the user wants. Remember, every person's residence & requirement is different/unique.
Decide on a budget and what features you want.

For me, I bought the cheapest router around, because I knew exactly what my needs were.
I didn't care too much about range
I didn't need USB ports on the router.
