1 LAN 1 USB.. need a small help..?

Hi All,I have similar problem. so I 'm posting in the same thread. I also want to connect both my desktop and laptop to the internet at a time. I 'm able to connect to internet using LAN port directly to the internet(without entering my userid &password). My problem is I 'm not able to connect to the internet with USB port. I tried to follow the steps given in CD provided by BSNL. but I couldn't find any driver(My modem is UT300R2U 2.2) In the DSL router page of the modem, it is showing message as 'USB conenction failed'. Can any one suggest me what I should do to connect to internet using USB port. if any driver to be installed, please someone provide me the link to download. please do needful. Regards,Hari

Router USB Drivers - India Broadband Wiki
Disconnect Usb cable from modem to computer.
Download usb driver to say C:/ibf utstar usb
Re start system after connecting USBcable to computer usb port.
Let Windows detect New hardware.
Will ask for drivers.
upload from above location.
You may get "Not digitally signed '
Ignore.
Re boot and try internet connection.
IN LAN, another network will appear.
Ip for USB port usually 192.168.1.2
If computer crashes bad luck ! happened to me !

Thanks for detailed reply. how to make my systems to detect & give message as 'found a new hardware'. becoz, when I connected USB cable first time, it gave message 'found a new hardware' and gave option to install driver. But later it is not giving any messages when i connect to USB port. and also how to setup manually incase, if it is not possible to install driver automatically.

'found a new hardware' and gave option to install drivers
Then go to Control panel=== select ADD NEW HARDWARE
Same let Windows detect New Hardware.
Now you should upload the drivers from new location.
Hope this is correct procedure( from my memory)

Basic question - Why use Type I modem at all! That is the default modem provided by BSNL. Go ahead and upgrade to Type II (or IV) - it has four LAN ports and a wireless port that can allow upto 90 wireless cards (present is Laptops) to connect simultaneously. Four lan ports can also connect at the same time.I hope that much would be sufficient for a person(s) working from a home environment.HTH and all the best for a better future,Yogesh Dhakad

thanks essbebe....:thumb: Able to configure USB port:D and now I can connect to internet from both the system.:D:D

YES>

Ensure you connect in "Always On" mode
( userId PW entered in wan page of modem.)
Also enable dhcp in LAN page give range 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10

NowAfter checking Lan mode internet is working in laptop

In Desktop:
Install USB drivers at say C:/My documents /usb drivers.
Now
connect USB port to desktop usb
Let windows detect modem and install drivers.
Modem gateway
Ip address 192.168.1.2 for usb mode. and 192.168.1.1 for lan mode.
